Laredo Port of entry holds 25th anniversary 9/11 Memorial Ceremony at Juarez-Lincoln Bridge

LAREDO, Texas — U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations, Laredo Port of Entry, held its annual 9/11 Memorial Ceremony to honor the victims, survivors, first responders and all those affected by the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

The ceremony took place during the early morning hours of Sept. 11 at the Juarez-Lincoln Bridge, where federal, state, county, and local law enforcement partners, along with first responders, gathered to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the attacks.

“Today, as we stand united with our federal, state, county, and local law enforcement partners and first responders, we honor the memory of the lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001,” said Port Director Albert Flores, Laredo Port of Entry. “This commemoration reminds us of the resilience of our nation and the courage of the men and women who continue to protect our communities. Together, we reaffirm our commitment to never forget and to uphold the values of service and sacrifice that define us.”

The ceremony featured a series of solemn tributes. The Laredo Fire Department led the procession with pipes and drums, while law enforcement agencies stood in formation. A combined Honor Guard presented the colors and raised the American flag, which was then lowered to half-staff in memory of the victims. A rifle team performed a three-volley salute, followed by the playing of “Taps” and a rendition of “Amazing Grace.”

At precisely 7:46 a.m., marking the moment Flight 11 struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center, participants observed a moment of silence. CBP’s Air and Marine Operations also honored the occasion with a flyover above the port of entry, providing a moving visual tribute.

Representatives from numerous agencies attended the ceremony, including CBP’s Office of Field Operations, U.S. Border Patrol, Air and Marine Operations, Office of Human Resources Management, Office of Trade and Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism; Homeland Security Investigations; Transportation Security Administration; Laredo Fire Department; Laredo Police Department; Webb County Sheriff’s Office; Texas Department of Public Safety; and the U.S. Consulate General.
